Research overview

Our team prioritizes improving and advancing the integration of user-centered outcomes in infrastructure planning and design. To achieve this, we aim to:

  • improve existing/traditional and emerging data streams that provide user-level data about how people use the infrastructure systems available to them;
  • apply methods from social sciences (specifically, survey methods and psychometrics) that can improve how we measure and model traits and behaviors associated with infrastructure system use; and
  • advance our understanding of how interactions between behavioral patterns, the built environment, and socioeconomic and demographic characteristics can impact user-centered outcomes of existing infrastructure.
